One day a father, of a very wealthy family, took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people can be. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from the trip, the father asked his son,"How was the trip?" "It was great Dad!" "Did you see how poor people can be?" the father asked. "Oh yeah," said the son. "So what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father. The son answered, " I saw we have one dog and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them." With this the boy's father was speechless. Then his son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are." --- Author Unknown ---
I know this is taking about being poor physically and materially . I know that even though I have never had many worldly goods, I count myself to be the richest of persons. I have a fine family, that I love and who love me, food on our table, clothes on our backs, air to breath, a home to live in, friends and more friends, but most of all I am rich because of what I have in Christ Jesus, my Saviour and Lord.
In Jesus, I have a peace that passes all understanding, I have joy, unspeakable and full of glory, I have the love of God and His Son, I have a mansion being prepared for me in Heaven, I have everlasting life, I have a friend that sticks closer than a brother, the Lord will never leave or forsake me, I am an a join heir with Christ and I have been adopted into the family of God, among so many other blessings.
1PETER 1:3,4
BLESSED BE THE GOD AND FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, WHICH ACCORDING TO HIS ABUNDANT MERCY HATH BEGOTTEN US AGAIN UNTO A LIVELY HOPE BY THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST FROM THE DEAD, TO AN INHERITANCE INCORRUPTIBLE, AND UNDEFILED, AND THAT FADETH NOT AWAY, RESERVED IN HEAVEN FOR YOU.
1 CORINTHIANS 2:9
BUT AS IT IS WRITTEN, EYE HATH NOT SEEN, NOR EAR HEARD, NEITHER HAVE ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN, THE THINGS WHICH GOD HATH PREPARED FOR THEM THAT LOVE HIM.
11PETER 1:4
WHEREBY ARE GIVEN UNTO US EXCEEDING AND GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES: THAT BY THESE YE MIGHT BE PARTAKERS OF THE DIVINE NATURE, HAVING ESCAPED THE CORRUPTION THAT IS IN THE WORLD THROUGH LUST.
ACTS 20:32
AND NOW, BRETHREN, I COMMEND YOU TO GOD, AND TO THE WORD OF HIS GRACE, WHICH IS ABLE TO BUILD YOU UP, AND TO GIVE YOU AN INHERITANCE AMONG ALL THEM WHICH ARE SANCTIFIED.
JOHN 10:27-29
MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE, AND I KNOW THEM, AND THEY FOLLOW ME: AND I GIVE UNTO THEM ETERNAL LIFE; AND THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH, NEITHER SHALL ANY MAN PLUCK THEM OUT OF MY HAND. MY FATHER, WHICH GAVE THEM ME, IS GREATER THAN ALL; AND NO MAN IS ABLE TO PLUCK THEM OUT OF MY FATHER'S HAND.
PSALM 23:6
SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY SHALL FOLLOW ME ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE: AND I WILL DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD FOR EVER.
JOHN 6:35
AND JESUS SAID UNTO THEM, I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE: HE THAT COMETH TO ME SHALL NEVER HUNGER; AND HE THAT BELIEVETH ON ME SHALL NEVER THIRST.
HOW POOR ARE YOU??? I will say again, I believe that I am the richest of the richest not for the material things of which I posses but for all that I have in Christ Jesus. DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF RICH OR POOR?? We can all be rich.
Do It!

Connie- Again an excellent post! I must not be so proud, but I am ever so rich. I know my destiny, serve a living God, and have the most incredible family, friends and blog friends in the world!!!
Great scriptures and thank you so much. I did read this earlier and saved my comment until I could read this to my Bill!
btw in American standards the pen of jen family is probably viewed as poor...Not in my eyes! But poverty is definitely a state of the mind, more than a lifestyle.
Have a wonderful sunny weekend!
Jennifer
yes in HIM we are Rich/spiritually blessed By Grace ;o]
That was wonderful! I am always reminded of the children of Israel in the wilderness when I start complaining. God truly calls us to be thankful for all that He has given to us. Thankfulness is such a peaceful and joyous virtue! Thank you for sharing...keep up the good work!
Thank you for this post. I was raised in a rather well to do family. I wouldn't call my childhood the happiest. Now, I am married to a godly man, have 5 children, live paycheck to paycheck, and I have never felt richer. God has given me the desires of my heart.
Thank you for stopping by my blog and commenting. I replied with the address back to your blog. I am blessed by you and desire other women experience the same blessing. ~Courtney
Lisa, your blog isn't dead and I am sure when you have the time you will write again.Yes, I am thankful we have met each other. I am sure God had a purpose in it. Have a good weekend, LIsa. connie
Jennifer, poverty is definitely a state of the mind when we know what being rich really means. In heaven as far as worth, as we see it the street made of gold will not have any value.I don't think it is being prideful to realize what we have in family , friends, and especially in Jesus Christ. It makes me know how underserving I really am. You have a weekend that bring you joy. connie
Inspired, exactly.Thanks. connie
Luvvom, Thank you, I will as much as I can. We can only be happy as we are thankful. We have so much. Be happy and have a wonderful weekend. connie

What a great post.
Truly a great reminder to me that I am richly blessed by Christ.
(and that all the riches in the world could never equal being rich in Christ).
Lori, Thank you. You are very right,"All the riches in the world could never equal being rich in Christ." Thank you. connie
Dear Connie, you are so right, we can ALL be rich... it's all in how we look at our situation!!! Thank you for this post... Love, Kitty =)
