WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog.

He dropped his tools and ran to the bog. There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death. The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.

"I want to repay you," said the nobleman.

"You saved my son's life." "No, I can't accept payment for what I did," the Scottish farmer replied, waving off the offer.

At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel. "Is that your son?" the nobleman asked. "Yes," the farmer replied proudly. "I'll make you a deal. Let me take him and give him a good education. If the lad is anything like his father, he'll grow to a man you can be proud of.

"And that he did. In time, Farmer Fleming's son graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to

become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin. Years afterward, the nobleman's son was stricken with pneumonia. What saved him? Penicillin. The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill. His son's name? Sir Winston Churchill.

MATTHEW 7:12

THEREFORE ALL THINGS WHATSOEVER YE WOULD THAT MEN SHOULD DO TO YOU, DO YE EVEN SO TO THEM:FOR THIS IS THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.

This verse tells us how ever it is that we want others to treat us then that is exactly how we should treat them. If we want them to be kind and considerate to us then we should treat them in that very same way. We will then have a much better chance of being treated that way by them.

Don't you remember those people who had a way of always being kind and thoughtful?

The verse in Matthew is not just a comment it says that it" is the Law and Prophets.
This was Jesus speaking in the verse. If we would try living this way more often, what a world this would be.

None of us want to be treated badly yet we think nothing of sometimes treating others in an unkind and thoughtless and mean way.

You know how it is when you smile at someone they usually, return that smile. I believe that is exactly how it is when we speak kindly and act kindly toward others. It has to be a totally selfish person who does not respond to kindness.

ROMANS 12:10

BE KINDLY AFFECTIONED ONE TO ANOTHER WITH BROTHERLY LOVE; IN HONOR PREFERRING ONE ANOTHER.

If we can make it a habit to do this, then what comes around to us will be good and not evil.

It has been said by William Arthur Ward that "kindness is a warm breeze in a frigid climate; a radiant heat that melts the icebergs of fear, distrust and unhappiness."

So lets try to make what comes around to us all the good words and deeds that are possible. connie

Seeking Grace on the Narrow Path said...

I keep thinking about this. My husband is much better at the "golden rule" than me. I tend to get very impatient with folks. I love to see people that love the Lord make a difference in the lives of others. Please keep me in your prayers as I will speak in a couple of weeks. I am very excited but also very nervous. My pastor tells me I will do fine. I think all the prayers will help calm me. I also wanted to tell you how much insight I gain when I visit "Connie's Thoughts". Even though I don't know you personally I know you are a sister in Christ. I thank you my friend and my sister in Christ for encouraging me to do what God has called me to do.
In His Hands,
Bren

CONNIE'S THOUGHTS FROM THE HEART said...

Dear Bren, thank you so much, you are a blessing to my heart.

I will ernestly pray for you. I don't know you personally either but I know God lives in you and your desire to do His will is so evident in all that you say. He will be with you and give you just the words He wants you to use. He will bless those words and they will bring forth fruit for Him. I agree with your Pastor. Just forget yourself and let God use you. My prayers will begin tonight.love you, my sister in Christ. connie

Wonderful post, Connie. That's one of my dad's favorite sayings, and so very true. I recently posted something similar too...give the best that you have and the best will come back to you...
